PitchIn vs SignUpGenius
PitchIn does the everyday sign-up jobs (potlucks, volunteer shifts, snack schedules, meal trains, team fees) for free, and then goes further: it fills its own gaps when people drop out.
Waitlists, custom questions, co-organizers, calendar sync and website embedding cost extra on SignUpGenius. On PitchIn they're free on every sheet, and there are no ads at all.
When someone drops out, the next person on the waitlist moves in by themselves. People who can't make it hand off their spot in one tap. And two days before, past helpers are asked to fill any empty slots, so you don't have to chase people.
Organizers get a private link by email. Helpers type their name and email and they're done.

To be fair: if you need card payments built into the sheet, text message reminders, a phone app, lots of themes, or a phone line to call for help, SignUpGenius does those and PitchIn doesn't. It's also been around for years and lots of people already know it. For everything else, try PitchIn first. It's free, so there's nothing to lose.
There's no paid plan and no ads. PitchIn runs on low-cost services, and nobody's information is sold or shared. See the privacy page.
Make a new sheet from a template (it takes about two minutes), then send your group the new link. The time-slot generator can make a whole season of slots at once.
No. They open the link, pick a slot and type their name and email. They get a confirmation, a reminder the day before, and a link to cancel or hand off their spot.
